Sphere Entertainment (NYSE: SPHR) made an exciting announcement on Wednesday regarding the upcoming F1 race in Las Vegas. The company revealed that during the race on Saturday night, real-time pole position data will be displayed, along with the drivers’ helmets and a unique “custom podium moment” to celebrate the race winner.
The Sphere, known as the site of the T-Mobile Zone on the Las Vegas Strip Circuit, will play a significant role in the upcoming event. The race itself will wind around the globular theater at turns five through nine, adding a dynamic element to the racing experience.
The Sphere recently conducted a practice run, during which it displayed live cues in response to the Netflix Cup golf tournament and handed over control of the world’s largest LED display to a third party. Since the Sphere’s debut on July 4, it has had complete control over all of its content.
Emily Prazer, chief commercial officer for Las Vegas Grand Prix, Inc., expressed excitement about the upcoming event, stating that the Sphere’s Exosphere will elevate the race to new heights, providing fans with a mesmerizing experience both in person and on TV globally.
In addition to displaying real-time pole positions and thrilling podium celebrations, the Sphere will feature larger-than-life cards showcasing all 20 drivers and their cars. It will also transform into helmets from each driver, serving as selfie backdrops for fans in attendance.
Furthermore, the company teased opportunities for fans to see their own faces projected onto the Sphere, adding to the immersive experience for racegoers.
