The renowned Churchill Downs and Sports Illustrated have come together to announce a new naming rights deal for a restaurant at the legendary venue of the Kentucky Derby. The new restaurant, Club SI, will replace the originally planned 1895 Club and is set to open in time for the 150th Kentucky Derby on May 4. The financial details of the partnership have not been disclosed.
Club SI will be part of the $200 million renovated Paddock Project at Churchill Downs, offering a luxury dining experience with a focus on horses and providing guests with a view of the all-new Paddock and Paddock Runway. This will give guests an immersive, behind-the-scenes look at the race track during the historic Kentucky Derby.
The renovated paddock is seen as a milestone for Churchill Downs, and is expected to attract more visitors to the Kentucky Derby and other significant races at the track.
A major feature of Club SI will be the presence of celebrity ambassadors who will greet guests during the Kentucky Derby and the Kentucky Oaks. The venue will showcase iconic covers of Sports Illustrated and other sports-related artwork. The club will offer gourmet dishes from the curated Chef’s Table Buffet, designated wagering windows, private bars, and outdoor trackside viewing for live races on premium racing days.
In addition to the paddock, Churchill Downs is also undergoing a $14 million update of its Jockey Club Suites. As the Kentucky Derby is the most wagered on and watched horse race in the U.S., the necessity for upscale amenities is evident and Club SI is set to meet this standard.
Churchill Downs operates 11 regional casinos across 10 states, as well as historical horse racing facilities in Kentucky, Virginia, and soon in New Hampshire. This collaboration further solidifies the venue’s commitment to offering world-class experiences for its visitors.
